Debit Cards

  1. Will my Visa® Check card be replaced?
Yes, your current Visa® Check Card will be replaced with a new Visa Check Card. You will have a new card number and a new Personal Identification Number (PIN). The Visa Check Card is a fast and easy way to have purchases deducted directly from your checking account. You can get cash back at many merchants, such as grocery stores, if you press “Debit” and enter your PIN when making a purchase. You can also use your Visa Check Card at any Commerce ATM and at any ATM that displays the logos on the back of your card. A fee may be assessed when you use a non-Commerce ATM. See your card agreement for details.

Your new Commerce card will arrive the first week in March. If you have more than one card in your mailer, you have a joint Visa Check Card account and these cards share the same card number and the same pin.

For your security, the card and the PIN are mailed separately on different dates. The card will be delivered in an envelope and the PIN will be provided in a mailer with tear-off edges. The return mail address on each is PO Box 411457, Kansas City, MO.

You may change your PIN at any Commerce ATM after March 13 at 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time.

  2. When can I begin using my new Visa Check Card?
You may begin using your new card after 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time on March 13. Before using your Visa Check Card, follow the card activation instructions found on the sticker on the front of the card and on the document attached to your card (remove your card(s) from this document to find helpful information.) One call activates all cards with the same card number. You may also activate your card online at commercebank.com/colorado – just click the “Activate Visa Check Card” link. You may activate your new card at any time – you do not need to wait until March 13 to activate your card.

Your current Visa Check Card will no longer be active as of 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time on March 13. Please destroy your old card after that time.

NOTE: On the day of conversion, we change many systems at different times. You will have card access to an interim balance of your checking account and/or savings account from 2:00 p.m. on March 13 through 2:00 a.m. March 14. Commerce Visa Check Card access will not be available between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on March 14 as we update your account on our system. After that, your exact balance will be reflected and available going forward. All times shown above are Mountain Time.

  3. Is there a fee for the Visa Check Card?
There is no annual or monthly fee. The card issued to you is FREE.

  4. Will my Visa Check Card be re-issued this year?
Your new card will not expire annually. Check your card for the expiration date. If you move, be sure to notify the bank so that your new card reaches you without delay when it does expire.

  5. I currently make recurring bill payments with my Visa Check Card. Will I need to change these?
Yes. Important: To ensure that your payments continue to be processed without disruption, please contact the company to whom you make the payment – you’ll need to provide the card number and expiration date of your new Commerce Visa Check Card. Be sure to activate your card before you call.

  6. Will my daily spending limits change?
Your daily spending limits are higher with your new Visa Check Card, so you have more purchasing power. Find the specific limits for your card.
